About My Writing

A good book is not written by the person with the pen (or computer), but by the characters whose lives are being exposed.

I often sit and try to write something new. So often on those days little gets done, when I am trying to force words onto the page.

It is often when I sit to play with an idea that I meet someone new, someone who wants to tell me their story.

I have tried in the past to take their story and try to steer it in the direction I believe it should go. I can still remember sitting at the computer one day, arguing with the character who needed to take a certain action, and he wasn't even the first main character. I remember sitting there for two hours trying to make this man do what I wanted, but he refused. In the end I gave in and let him do what he would do, to do otherwise would to change his very character, and I could not do that. It is their lives I am writing, and I must allow them to live as they will.

I sit and talk with my "imaginary friends" often, discussing what is to be written. Some look at me strangely for the way I see the characters in my books, but they must be real to me for me to make them real for those who read about them.

I'm an avid reader, enjoying mostly paranormal of any sort, though I do enjoy a good mystery from time to time, or a historical romance (I especially like stories about Highlanders, something about the kilts). I enjoy poetry as well, but mostly I like the 'monsters'.
Vampires, witches, and ghosts have always interested me, while it has only been the past few years that I have bothered with werewolves. Oddly enough, they are my favorite creature.
I live in Florida with my husband, two children, a dog, and a cat. I currently do not work a 'normal' job, but I do have two children whom I homeschool, a house to run, and volunteer with my children's extra activities. I crochet in my free time, mostly stuffed animals/doll, blankets, scarves, and beanie hats, which I sell.
I enjoy reading a good book. I most often curl up on the couch, but my favorite place to read is under a nice shade tree, but since I don't have one of those in my yard, I end up on the couch. I love audio books, for when doing yard work, sunbathing, or even house work.
I've been writing stories since middle school, but the first I finished was written in 2009. I have written several since then, and am working to have them all in print.
Perhaps if I wish upon that star hard enough.......
